Transforming City Harvest’s Depot to mark a ‘Decade of Difference’

Recently, we had the unique privilege to create something magical for a charity event.

We were invited to bring a special vision to life to transform City Harvest’s Acton food depot into a vibrant floral wonderland for a night of celebration.

City Harvest - a pioneering food rescue organisation, has dedicated the past decade to tackling two of London’s most pressing issues: food waste and food poverty.

Every year, they work tirelessly to ensure that excess food reaches those who need it most.

‘Dining in the Depot’ celebrated their 10th year anniversary to mark this significant milestone whilst equally creating a beautiful opportunity to drive further awareness about their vital mission to raise funds to provide an additional 500,000 meals to Londoner’s facing hunger.

And whilst we volunteered our time to help set the stage, this event was about much so more than décor.

It was a moment to honour the incredible mission of City Harvest and their ten years of impact rescuing food, people and planet across London and beyond.

Creating the ‘Floral Feast’ sustainable concept

Inspired by the theme of nourishment, our concept, “A Floral Feast,” represented the connectivity that City Harvest brings to communities through its work to redistribute food to combat food poverty and food waste.

In line with City Harvest’s values, every element of the floral feast décor was designed with sustainability at its core.

Our team sourced surplus flowers from local florists, repurposing their excess stock to create a vivid and meaningful setting without added waste.

A key feature for the event’s setting was this bespoke flower wall which we built with flowering artificial blooms, designed to be repurposed and reused for future events.

From large statement arrangements to cascading hop vines consciously dressing the industrial architecture, each element was created to set a warm, inviting tone while minimising environmental impact.

The floral arrangements we created were combined with food elements that were placed as table centrepieces to further symbolise the nourishing theme that City Harvest brings to communities.

We embraced a vibrant colour palette to highlight the kindness and hope this charity brings to brighten the lives of those in need, whilst ensuring that every element sourced was reused or repurposed to stay true to the City Harvest ethos.

A Community United for ‘Dining in the Depot’

Dining in the Depot was so much more than a beautifully decorated space.

It was a gathering of passionate individuals, local businesses, suppliers and volunteers, each offering their time, skills, and resources to make a contribution.

We were surrounded by people working in true collaboration, dedicated to making every detail matter.

From accomplished chefs and caterers to the front of house team, every individual had their unique part to play, fuelled by genuine care towards a shared goal.

The collective generosity and spirit of everyone in attendance created an atmosphere of warmth and support, reinforcing the belief that community collaboration can drive meaningful change.

Reflecting on the magic of this Charity Event

Being a small part of this charity event was a humbling experience, it served as a reminder to us about the power of community and shared purpose.

And whilst our contribution was to create a beautiful setting, the true magic of the event was in witnessing how many people are dedicated to supporting City Harvest’s mission and the sustainable values that drive it.

Thank you to the whole team for inviting us to get involved and play a part in such a memorable event!
